I started reading the New Yorker when I was a kid. Truth be told, reading the cartoons was the main attraction. I would take your latest weekly behind a big chair or out on the roof of the porch so I could be by myself to read. Later Talk of the Town, fiction and ads appealed to me. I remember ordering my prettiest dress from one of your ads when I was 13 -- a white dress with aqua polka dots and a peter-pan collar. My adolescence was filled with boys, academics, stuffing home-coming floats and reading. I always read. By then, I was reading the articles AND the fiction, even the poetry. Well, maybe not all the articles. Through nursing the babies in the middle of the night, spending more time in the "John" than I'd needed to because I wanted to finish an article. I remember in graduate school, I couldn't get through the week of tough academics without picking up the New Yorker; it was such a comfort during difficult times. And so it has gone through all the changes and years of my life until now -- I am 70 later this year. Lately my health has caused to be spend more time quietly and at home. I devour every word from front to back. It brings me a great deal of pleasure. I love the creative topics you pick and quirky stories and reviews. I enjoy laughing (or shedding a tear) over some of your political observations. The New Yorker has been an important part of my life. Thanks. Marnie Buckley

I love this magazine for the cartoons alone. The famous sketches are so witty and popular that they have been published as collections many times. Personally I find some of the editorial a little to far to the left.

Since it’s inception in 1925, The New Yorker Magazine has been an integral part of the pulse of the city and beyond. Published weekly, with a decidedly liberal bent, the magazine has kept it’s sophisticated humor roots while evolving into a forum for serious journalism. Under editor David Remnick some of the best writers of the day use the New Yorker as a platform to discuss politics, and literature, art and music among a varied selection of features and reviews. Hard news covers national and international items which are complimented by cartoons, poems and fiction through the publication. Known all over the world for more than 70 yrs the New Yorker has been through some bumpy times with different editors who had their own agenda's and sadly may have lost some subscribers along the way. David Remnick has brought this publication back to it's former glory as the caliber of journalism and the content of the articles reflect. Insightful. interesting, current, and fascinating The New Yorker is simply one of the very best magazines out there today.
