I don't have a lot of time to read but I need and want to stay on top of what's going on. I want to read things that are written in intelligent prose that keeps the story moving. When I open the Atlantic Monthly, I am guaranteed articles that are surprisingly quick reads for the depth with which they cover complex and frequently controversial issues. The articles themselves are sometimes so cutting edge that they become news items themselves, showing up in online news feeds. It's one of the few news magazines that still seems worth subscribing to.
